Are You Sure

When you lost your breath and you came close to death.
And you closed your eyes and you saw the light.
Are you sure you weren't just having a really bad night?

Did you see St. Peter, was he holding the key?
Or was it Jesus himself, did you really see?
We're all ailing to find a cure.
Did you see the other side?
Are you sure?

How could we stand to think nothing's there?
To just get put under or let ashes glare.
Nobody knows if it is real or not.
Are you really sure of the message you got?

I guess it depends on if you believe.
And if we do, then why do we grieve?
I'm not really sure just whats going on.
But I'll pray to God that he brings me along.

They say peace comes over you and you no longer fear.
Well I kind of feel that way after I've had me a beer.
Are you sure you were'nt just being reeled in.
On a lure of redemption for all of your sin?

And just what is the answer to these question's we pose?
For some of us, we just can't say if anybody knows.

Just thought you'd like to know that the only thing I'm sure of is that I'm not sure. Does that make any sense? How are you Robert - thanks for your visit, my door is always open for you. Lizzy

Come to think of it, a nice cold beer gives me a peaceful feeling too. Needed sometimes for sure. When are you going to get inspired?

You have such a soft rambling style in your poetry. Unique and so easily pleasant to read Robert. PS - If that fish had a wish you'd be her dish!

I was fishing with my Dad and Brother. My brother said something along the lines of that we were'nt catching any fishes. And I thought of this. If fishes were wishes, we'd all be screwed.

Am I out of line when I hooted over that 5th stanza? You're telling this serious story then all of a sudden you break out with this hilarious ending. Clever and witty Robert!
