- Are You Lonesome Tonight -

Young girls screaming and yelling
                                            High-heeled shoes
A man arriving at the scene
                                       Nylon stockings with seam
                                      Short skirts and thin blouses
                                             Bright red lipstick
                                              The music flows
                                         He takes the microphone
                                        Crying and screaming more
                                      He takes some hip movements
                                              Young girls swoon
                                        "Are You Lonesome Tonight?"
Elvis Presley ... has arrived the stage

Anne This is a creative and unique dedication to Elvis. You took the reader into the world of his fans and what actually occurs when he is seen. Nice job Thanks for the sweet comment on my Holiday Wishes poem.

The King of Rock 'n Roll will never die.....Elvis Presley is just as popular today as he ever was! Great poem, Anne-Lise! Very nostalgic. By the way, thank you for your kind comments, as always!

One of my favorite song, and still remembering the jumpsuit stage costume as the iconic image of Elvis. Great music he shared to the world that is why millions of fans mourned the death of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Enjoyed reading your poem, Anne Lise and thanks for your comment to my poem. Elvis is in the building. All this and Elvis movies on the weekends. Girls loved him and boys wanted to be him. Far better than James Bond. Those where good years before Viet Nam forced us to grow up and say good by to our dreams.

Yes, young girls so impressionable, they still the same today, fawning over over the famous and not so great singers, especially those horrid boy bands lol. Lovely write Anne Lise. Take care, Richard

Fine tribute to the greatest. His greatest achievement, though, was wrangling a seat at the table with my wife to be and some of her friends. This was when he was nothing but a wannabee singer at Magnolia Gardens outside Houston, TX in the early 1950's. As his fame progressed I made sure he never got that close again.. I love his music and have most all of it on vinyl.. Love ya..Jake

Ah yes... Elvis... You poem is Elvis, present tense. The other tense, so to speak, is, "Elvis has left the building," but not for everyone. He certainly ranks among the greats, and his influence continues... Jack
