Are We There Yet
Driving on our journey
We grow excited as we get near
To our final destination
Where we'll all give a great cheer.
'Are we there yet?' is often said
From the children sat behind,
Eager for days of playfulness
To rejuvenate body and mind.
We pass signposts along the way
Telling us we're almost there
Where our family will be so happy,
Contented, without a care.
Finally, we arrive, tired,
Yet glad we endured that long day,
Pleased that we all observed
Those signs along the way.
There are more important "signs"
We need to notice and perceive,
"Signs" Jesus said we're sure to see
As long as we would believe.
Signs that the "end" is near
Can be seen all over the Earth;
Like pangs of a pregnant woman
Leading up to an imminent birth.
Global wars, pandemics and earthquakes
Prove Jesus prophetic words true;
God's kingdom, the one we pray for
Will soon end these for me and you!
All suffering will be removed;
God will wipe all tears from our eyes;
No one will ask, 'Are we there yet?'
As the World will be a Paradise!
(Luke 21:7,10,11,28)
