April Showers (Anacreontic Verse)
Putting the blame
on global warming
winter felt the pinch
rain was scarce
and spring arrived
lamenting its luck
unable to twirl
in habitual gown
of green satin
shyly tiptoeing
keeping a low
profile, feeling blue;
the wind intervened
encouraged her
with soothing words
to wait patiently;
providentially
dark clouds came
unexpectedly
and April showers
quenched thirsting soil;
spring breathed
in relief, able
to look ahead
unashamedly
in the knowledge
that May would
come, parading
delightful flowers
in abundance!
