Appreciate

Appreciate

Imagine waking up and everything has changed.
No free will, your entire life prearranged.
Being told where to go and what you can do.
All aspects controlled, even your view.

No more crime and no need for law.
A life without love, no ma and no pa.
Imagine this gift suddenly taken away.
Would this life be good, even for one day?

No more dreams of what you could be.
Nothing to look forward to, we would all just agree.
What if opinion would no longer exist.
No more falling in love, or that first time being kissed.

Maybe we need the good with the bad.
How else can we appreciate all that we’ve had?
Without bad in this world, would good be a thing?
What is free will and what does it bring?

The poet has penned a beauty/ He has followed simplicity/ He has rhymed so nicely/ With the meaning made so wisely/ His language is easy to follow/ It can be grasped by any fellow/ He surely needs our pats/ Dear poet accept our congrats!

An interesting exegesis for the necessity of free will as it gives meaning to our lives, though throughout history kings, dictators, commissars, and now the PC police and cancel culture keep trying to deprive us of it; to paraphrase C.S.Lewis, the hardness of God is kinder than the softness of men. Congrats on your win, Mark!

I agree there was a reason God left us to our own device, sometimes we don't understand it, but there is a greater scheme in it all. Congratulations on your win, well written piece Mark

This is wonderful Mark, congratulations! This very thought was on my mind last week, that I should thank God even for the terrible times, because those things make us appreciate the good so much more. Also, that God teaches us through the hard times, so we can actually thank Him even for difficulties. Sometimes that is EXTREMELY hard(and I'm not exactly there yet). Your poem is confirmation to me, and thought provoking. I am adding it as a a fav! Congratulations!
