Anyone Can Write a Poem

Anyone can write a poem
And think that it’s fantastic
Though often others may be slightly
Less enthusiastic.

For inner critics sometimes fail
To note that something’s missing
And few admit their efforts
Might, in fact, be worth dismissing.

And so the world is filled with poems,
Most internet-inspired,
Where talent is an asset
Neither looked-for nor required.

Of course, since I am one who writes,
You may think I’ve concluded
That I’m just like all the others
But then you would be deluded!

Wickedly, wonderfully wrought, Ilene!! This one is a KEEPER, and a FAVE. ~ Gershon

Good one, if we didn't delude ourselves occasionally, life would not be nearly as exciting. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Your lovely rhyme mad me smile especially after posting my effort today lol:-) I am probably my own worst critic and never think my poems are 'fantastic' and I never use the 'hilarious' category as humour is subjective. I still think one day I will wake up and all my poems have been a dream as I hated poetry at school and now with over 2000 poems in 4 years I am making up for lost time lol:-) hugs jan xx
