Anxious
I'm anxious to know how our lives will be,
stirring in my mind are my wants and needs.
I patiently await the day you ask me to come home,
never wanting us to end up alone.
Always checking the phone to see if you've called,
and when you do I feel so enthralled.
Craving your unconditional love that you've always had for me,
knowing your confusion and pain makes for an uncertain guarantee.
Trying to regain your trust is no easy task,
Can you see who I really am, now that I've taken off my mask?
We're both so hard on ourselves and strive for perfection,
but it consumes us, like a mind driven infection.
You must be at peace with yourself to share it with others,
so we can be there for our daughter as father and mother.
