Anxiety
A tightrope pulled taut
Mind whirling in a storm
Her stomach wrapped in knots
Makes her body squirm
Sigh and take a breath
Perhaps a pill or two
Stress level running high
A need to see it through
Jumbled thoughts scratched on a note
A list of tasks at hand
Fearful images engulf her
Sink hole of quicksand
A day like any other
Embattled with fear
Anxiety pulls her nearer
Path laid out unclear
The list is small but she can’t move
Feet frozen to the floor
It’s all in her head they say
But she can’t leave the door
Feeling weak and awkward
Conditions she tries to ignore
From the panic which grips her throat tightly
She finds little relief or cure
She prays to God “Please take it…
This burden laid on me”
Crippled with fear
Is not how living is meant to be.
