[Note from Jon Corelis:  after writing this poem I decided to use it as lyrics for a song of my own composition.  It hasn't gotten performed yet, but the software generated demo audio file (using "ah" sounds for the vocal, since I don't have a decent voice simulator,) on YouTube will give some idea of what a performance would sound like.]

Anthem

Each and all join in the stream, 
separate though we may seem, 
to follow after freedom's dream 
beyond the sunset's gleaming. 

Always onward to freedom; 
our country is a gift of love 
we all make with our dreaming. 
 
Joyously and unafraid, 
we strengthen one another. 
Our land is always being made: 
adventure is her mother. 

Though hatred throws its dreadful shade, 
though every truth may seem betrayed, 
though leaders pass and riches fade, 
our power is each other. 

Freedom is our nation; 
as long as one free person lives, 
the dream will never die.
