Another Unsolved Crime

The hunger she’s been feeding Never gets satisfied Even when she adds it all up Then divides and multiplies Another needle track Another sigh of content Another night on the street To pay her habit and rent What started out so simple Somehow took a different turn She’s living this lie alone While other bridges burn Her family, they wouldn‘t understand She says as she walks her turf And thinks of another great fix And what it would be worth The millions of wonderful colors That stream through her mind And the satisfaction it brings Is something that’s easy to find Her friends are on the streets Smiling as she passes by Her money buys the good stuff No longer does she cry The hunger she’s been feeding Took a nose dive one last time No witnesses to be found Just another unsolved crime
