Another Life
Another soldier dies
killed in some distant war
that hovers forever on our doorstep.
An unnamed life lost
to the masses and news back at home
save the ones who knew and loved him.
They serve willingly
fighting in a hostile land
to bring freedom and hope that others run from.
The generals make the call
in the background of the sands and smoke
where life remains untouched.
When do we learn
that life and men and women
are of more value than land and oil, diamonds and gold?
