Anomaly

No matter what my politics It’s just one part of me. We each possess a bag of tricks; It’s no anomaly That I can write a perfect rhyme And yet the way I vote May contradict your views so I’m Not worth the poems I wrote. Let’s judge each other on our work Despite our own beliefs For underneath our words may lurk Encompassing motifs. A mutual respect requires Acceptance of divides And sometimes, one that one admires Walks with different strides.

Different strokes for different folks, but civility never has been a feature of politics. So, as someone who appreciates peace and calm, I have always maintained an amused sideliner's perspective---when I haven't been able to avoid it altogether. Cheers, Gershon

What a laugh! Your talent lies in recognising the little things that support "the big picture", but I do think you should replace the period with a question mark at the end of the second verse! A great many wives do not share the political beliefs of their spouse, yet they still sleep together! (or not) Aloha! Rico

But Sanders?! Biden. Come on. I could not suppress my disappointment. I predict in a few months Bloomberg and Trump will be debating each other. Your talent is more than rhyme. There’s humor, and extra perception of the small things. Maybe that’s why you don’t see the bigger picture.

Is the "big picture" that mountain of 16,000 outright lies documented by FactCheck that your President has told? I hope someone in your family is smart enough not to believe Trump's assurances that the USA is "Low Risk" for the coronavirus! Aloha! Rico

"Tolerance isn't about having beliefs, It's how your beliefs lead you to treat people who disagree with you." A wise and much needed lesson, Ilene. This should be POTD!

I love your wise words Ilene .. i have found some trump supporters here are far from happy if poems are written about their beloved president ... but its not always stopped me from writing about Ron Dump lol:-) hugs jan xx
