Angel Dog

There is no sadness you will ever see
as when a little child loses their puppy
Life can be harsh and miracles few
but prayers of a boy heard and grew

Davy still cries himself to sleep
it has been over a week now
Get another puppy? Never can't hurt him again
All the pain he suffers losing his furry friend.

Stairs are hard for a little puppy to climb
but Buster he muster each step determine mind
That bright light above glowing with such love
Knew master Davy was there and it was fine

Davy put away Busters' little red ball
playing fetch with him was all he could recall
His little collar still new and dog tag shined
prayers for his puppy filled his mind

Finally the last step bottoms up
scurry wagging tail happy pup
Barking for Davy but the place fenced in
a pearly doggy door locked blocking him

Davy son we know you miss Buster...

Out of nowhere but who did appear
an old hound dog with a solemn stare
Petee the watchdog, Son you can't go in
for your collar and tag are not up here

Buster was fluster, I got to get in
for master Davy he is my best friend
I got to see him it is time to play
please mister Petee don't send me away

Sorry son for you the door is closed
Buster at this his tenderness exposed
he whimpered and whined looking down
Now hold on boy a loop hole I found

Being so young will Mercy me
not much bad of you could there be
back to earth we can let you go
not quite yourself but as an angel though

What is an angel it does not ring
son you'll be a puppy with wings
Now think of Davy cry out and yelp
trust your heart without a doubt

Lift your spirit and leap
flap your wings soaring deep
Back to earth and Davy your friend
off you go prayers we're answering

The sadness in Davy wouldn't depart
for little Buster was deep in his heart
Exhausted he cried himself to sleep
dreaming of Buster of memories to keep

Davy awaken by puppy kisses of all things
Buster on his chest flapping his wings
How? Who? What? Davy did not care
he hugged Buster shedding happy tears

So Buster was back Angel dog indeed
he could fly and swirl around as he pleased
Davy playing catch threw the ball up too high
no problem for Buster for now he flies

A miracle, prayers answered? no one questioned at all
for the Davy and his Angel dog was what they saw
With hearts that are pure can somehow transcend
for miracles do happen blessed by Heaven.
