And the Poet Cried

I sit here and pondered this night away, searching for words that are most profound; To deliver a message of dire warning, to a world swiftly losing ground. The prophets have been laughed at,  their warnings for generations fell on deaf ears; Now evil has been allowed to flourish, and its flourishing right here. We have spent thousands to save beached whales, or to help keep our planet green; And we try to sell democracy in foriegn lands, so they can live free like you and me. We send money  and missions around the world, while children are starving and shoeless right here; And the God-given laws that once kept things right, are discarded without any remorse or fear. But our freedom came at such a cost, many lives were lost for a higher call; What if they could see how freedom was now abused, Dont you think they would be appalled? So if they wouldn't listen to the prophets warnings, and they turn their backs on the evil they see; As I sit here and ponder I must ask God, Why would they listen to a poet like me. And the Poet cried.
