And Now Mend

(letters to my presido-elect): i

good must be lucky
else
luck must be goody
that niger now lurks in seas of goody-goody

1960 as father sang
was her year unlucky
who dwelt
on many a natural grant
with sons great
that beheaded must
lie in tombs
the untimely tombs
of countless days

and now mend
your brutalised
your kwashiokored
your maimed
your exiled

for
good must be lucky
else
luck must be goody
that niger now lurks in seas of goody-goody
