And More

Swift across
the forest floor
running
with her fear
looking for
a long ago
a chamber tomb
buried there.

See her trance
see her gaze
she knows she’s
near
where sorrow
stays.

Through trusted woods
past silent trees
to the stillness of
the lake
she silent prays
on bended knee
her soul
for God to take.

Weak from desolations
rage from desolations
wrath
sickly from the
rotting stench
strewn across her path.

Defended by hounds
of hell
beyond that
fiery blaze
Mother knows where
sorrow lives
where it hides
and plays.

Hear the echoes
hear the cries
beyond
the shore
sweet intention
dies.

Such memories
illusions meant
for days
that never were
delusions cast
into a grave
from which
they’ll never stir.

Within the depths
of trusted woods
nearest to the shore
she keeps a secret
to herself and more
and more and more.
