And I Thought

And I thought that love
was only for the rich;
Yes me
with my romantic reverie.
And I thought that love
was only for the astute;
Yes me
with me eloquent mastery.
And I thought that love
was only for the compassionate;
Yes me
with my gifts, my alms, my sympathy.

(how beautiful this loving I see)
