And Again Home

On heavy heels with beaten 
backs we crawl our way back 
home
A long day has damaged our 
spirits 
Yet we keep heart
Smiles long since faded begin 
to again dance behind our eyes
Returning, finally
To a gay fireplace
To steaming potatos and 
roasted meat
To hot cider
And a soft bed
And then we return
To tire ourselves again
And repeat the journey
With only comforts of home to 
hope for
