Ancient Ruins

Somewhere beyond the dawn of thresholds unforeseen.
Is where you'll find the past begin some where inside of me.
Childhood dreams and moonlight beams no longer mean a thing.
Just sad romantic memories to sorrowful to sing.

You never know how far you'll go till tomorrow slips away.
Or how long you'll last caught in the past with no hope for today.
Cause heartache slowly tears you down and loneliness can kill.
Lifes tax man comes and you realize you can't afford the bill.

You tell the truth as you think you know it, but time will be the judge.
You do your best to pass the test, but reality won't budge.
The mirror of lies will testify that you are just a fool.
These aren't the lessons we were taught when we sat down in school.

Did you notice how many times you created a rhyme within the sentence? I love this and have seen it in the old masters writings. It's hard to do but adds so much interest to a poem I think. Great write!

Hi Robert, this has a sadness that carries you away. The meaning travels throughout with angst Elizabeth

Life does move on as we must. Easier said than done I must say. Nicely done as well as insightful. My poem "Beautys' Decoupage" was written a few months ago. I transferred it from lulu..which is closing its site as of May 4th. The haikus are new as well as some of the others. Thanks for dropping by my poems.
