An Old Man's Theory

I saw an old man on a bench one day. He was feeding pigeons and some squirrels. I said," I've a question if that's okay - You look wise and the question's about girls." He said,"Son, you have come to the right place. I've studied that problem all of my life - As you can see from my wrinkled old face, It has caused worry and no little strife!" "Now listen closely - this is how it works. Men are born with the gift, or they are not - To know women and where the danger lurks But we don't know if the gift we have got!" "So we pursue women as if we do, But success eludes us because we don't. Then those who have it, and we don't know who, Take all those who will, and leave those who won't." "Look around you today at the old men. Some are like me and feed all the squirrels -[ And some hold hands with a woman, my friend, One who was chosen from all of the girls." I look back now and think of that old gent, And chuckle at his theory of girls. He had a tale for how his life was spent - I just shake my head and feed the squirrels. 7/2/2017

I have concluded that you are very talented. But I'm only scratching the surface at picking up on great poets. I enjoyed your rhyming girls with squirrels.
