An Old Graveyard

As l stroll through an old graveyard
On a overcast drizzly day
I drift back in time
To million miles away

Mesmerised by the headstones
I contemplate lives gone by
Who were they, who loved them
How did they die?

The profound silence within the graveyard engulfs me
The solitude yields inner peace
I feel a sense of spiritual calm
As if all fear has been released

I wander the graveyard oblivious of time
In a world of the unknown
A world of lives gone by
A life …now just words on a headstone
