An Ode To Caycay

Have you ever wondered to yourself "Have I gone stale, am I back on the shelf"? I have been to that writer's own lonely place Where words seldom come or only give you a trace. Then some contest will come along and let me see A few words that I can use to help set my spirit free. Not words that I would have thought on my own But one of my heroes, whose work is here often shown. She will give me a boost when I feel my work is poor They do the trick, because I am suddenly sure. Perhaps you have felt it because they are driven By a poet whose comments are most honestly given. Her words to me often give me a peaceful calm That act on my soul like a most soothing balm. She is one of the first to have welcomed me here I am very grateful that I was included in her sphere. She has helped to give my words a strength and fight Especially when she knew that they needed to come to light. I put her in my heroes and told her that perhaps one day I would write something for her when I could think of the words to say. This is a poor effort and lacks what her words to me mean, but alas It is my ODE TO CAYCAY...for that day has finally come to pass. They are not of the quality I would like to have written But these words came to me today as if I were smitten. My saying "Thank you" does not do her any justice at all Right now, they are the only ones that I can recall. So let me say them in this, in my own meager way YOU HAVE HELPED KEEP ME ON TRACK..."THANKS, CAYCAY"!

Oh my, my - oh, my gosh - not poor quality in any way! How lucky and blessed am I that you would take time to touch me in this way. I love this. I am moved by this in ways I am unable to adequately define. Awe and gratitude and disbelief filled me upon the find, then doubled, tripled and soared during the read. Truly one of nicest gestures I have received in my life. Need a say I am 'faving' it or that I'll be glowing for quite awhile! A big hug, wow and thank you, dear friend. Wow and wow

Judging from the comments I have received, I would say that we were the ones that have been blessed by knowing you. The words I wrote are not up to the high standards you deserve. I am only glad we found each other on the site. I am proud to call you "Friend" and look forward to a great year of writing, knowing that you will keep me on the straight and narrow. lol ((HUGS))

I couldn't agree with you more, Andrea. She is not the only one, and I know that so many others have been touched by her words of encouragement and cheer. Thanks for stopping to read it. I may still write one (once I figure out this computer) where others can join in and put in their applause as well. ((HUGS))

A fine tribute to a lovely lady. I'm lucky to have also been touched by her fine spirit so can fully endorse every sentiment you have mentioned.

Hi Dan! This is a worthy ode to one of Soup's truly lovely poets - in the real meaning of the word. Here's to greater poetic heights this 2016!

Happy New Year, Kim! While my words here cannot truly express my gratitude to her, it is the only way I easily express it to us "Soupers". She has been more than an ally and friend, and her words of encouragement are always there. Have a great year with your writing! I appreciate your comments very much.
