An Obsession

The timeless hands, on a timeless face, In such a soft, and mindful style. The piece consumes, and will possess, With a mesmerising dial. Why is it, that a few people become, Entranced by wonder and delight. Of a piece of metal, quite beautiful, With sapphire flecks through light. I do see why, obsessions occur, With precious metals and light. But constantly watching, a limited time, With hands that glow in the night. A saboteur against the times you own, As you look down on that precious watch, To gaze into, the most beautiful dial, And stare at colours unknown. Wasting time, you already have, To stare at a watch man made. There isn’t enough, of time to waste, As the time you have will fade. Enjoy your life, and appreciate the things, That make you glad to be on earth, But obsessions possess, and eat the time, That’s limited to you, from birth. Enjoy that watch, you proudly wear, You earned the right to own. But watch the seconds, and not the hours, As you gaze in a mesmerised stare.
