Notes About The Poem

An Inconvenient Truth

The inconvenient truth
Is that Earth’s climate is ruled by Sun
Not humans, with our engines of fire.
Earth’s systems of homeostasis
Boggle and awe the mind
That gathers the data to build its models
Of hubris.

Everywhere around us it appears
It is us who rules, in cities, fields and farms.
But when we look up at a sky of stars, wind and rain
We are reminded with wisdom and humility
Just who and what it is that actually rules
And how our job is not to control
But simply adapt and bend to change.
