An Illusion

Despiration takes my mind
And the peace that is surrounding
My hopes and thoughts that are portrayed
As though I've lost the feeling
I cannot help but take the pain
As it is my antidote
Because of this I know it is
My one and only hope
There must be more than what is seen
Perhaps under the surface
I can't help but see this dream
Can you tell me the difference
I twist and turn and feel the burn
As well as the emotion
Surely I am just distraught
And must be caught in an illusion
