An Eventful Day

An Eventful Day

i checked the mail a million times
like a kid looking for christmas gifts
but an empty box was all i found

then i found a bittersweet bomb
i did my best to maintain my calm
but it diffused me

certain pages were explosive
i heaved them to the floor
but the damage was done

my weakness overpowered me
saw someone unexpectedly
then the snowflakes came down hard

i said we should get in the car
and we shared smiles
til the windows were white

now my mind will replay
quite an eventful day
that hasn't saw its end
