An Eternal Race

Who overtakes whom the bride or the mom-in-law.... an eternal race. Son in the middle whose supporter will be he.... in a dilemma. 'My day will come sure gotta be a mom-in-law'.... bride's expectation. © 2011 kashinath karmakar (20th May 2011) =============================== Placement: 2nd ;(June 2011) Contest:In-laws Sponsor:Dr.Ram Mehta

Kash, I will never understand the way some mother in laws act. I am really laid back with my kids and their spouses. Joe and I never tell them what to do. I can't understand why in-laws have to make things so tough on their kids!! I enjoyed this one. It's thought provoking.

Oh, I get it now, a pavilion is similar to the "bench" in baseball! Thanks again, Kash. NOw, regarding this one...oh yes, and you WILL be caught in the middle many many times. There should be training classes in learning to deal with in laws! Have a warm and sunny day in your corner of the globe... Gwendolen

Sadly, it happens like this often. The son is in the middle of arguments between his wife and his mother. I never really argued with my late husband's mother. She was a doll, but what you described in your poem has a lot of truth. Compelling senryu, Kash, and I wish you success in Dr. Ram's contest! Love, Carolyn
