This represents a perfect summer evening until late night during a my typical weekday. Hubbie is not in the picture because he is working graveyard during the work week, so this is how I love spending my time alone!
on my deck I watch shadows crisscross sun’s last rays. . . . my skin still feels warm driving from the gym seeing the mountains darkened. . . . thinking of supper the house is quiet I savor all the morsels of my peaceful meal At my computer I click on my friends' poems. . . . night time’s joy fills me Time is getting late From my bed I watch TV. . . . moon peers through the blinds curled up by my cats as my eyelids grow heavy. . . . slumber land - take me Written by Andrea Dietrich/Aug. 20, 2011 (see note about the poem) Inspired by Francine Roberts' Morning, noon, or night senryus Poetry Contest

I wouldn't have thought of writing about late night Soup for this one - and it is indeed usually part of my late night ritual. Your bedtime sounds so relaxing - love it!

Andrea, I like the way you describe the mountains darkening and thinking of enjoying a meal at home. This sounds like your routine -- gettting on the computer, watching TV and curling up with your cats. Lovely senryus for Francine's contest! Love, carolyn

I am envious of your last stanza Andrea. I miss my kitty so much. My daughter who has him got another cat named Mia who is about 6 mos. old and now Tommy is playing with her as if he were a kitten too. Relaxing poem.

Very beautiful Andrea! I love being able to put myself into the poem itself. I was there reading my friends poems, watching TV, and curled up with my cats...falling asleep!! I enjoyed this poem a lot, it is well described! Thank you for sharing this with us!!
