An Empty Space

An Empty Space

everyone's assumed asleep
when the silver lines the clouds
you send me another surprise
my hopeful words are echoed loud
and singing to my dimming eyes

all the stars in our hearts
burn in harmony
shining perfect light
the whole universe can see
you dream without a night

words fail
i have said that before
before i could speak
of your knowledge i implore
inform my kind who seek

i've been here
but never where i now stand
i know i walked away
but i return at your command

where was school?
what i learned
i loved English class
am i all that has returned?
