An Autumn Woolgathering
Autumns bring thoughts of the end of things
Rambling musings to be sure, of course
But thoughts nonetheless with their own force
As nature erases the gain of Springs
I seem to be reminded each Fall
That all things that live must meet an end
The truth of life is no one knows when
The end will arrive and stop it all
Such thoughts lead to the final ponder
What will happen to the universe
Will it just stop or will it be worse
Thus my mind continues to wander
Who will be there to see the last star
Burn its last gasp and turn the sky black
Will there be no light from any crack
To give hope to some forgotten "far"
And so I journey through Autumn days
Woolgathering through the falling leaves
Watching the gathering of harvest sheaves
Wondering how the universe lays
