An Apple Is Always An Apple

The apple does not fall far from the tree But because of its shape, it can roll away A rotting sour apple will deposit its seed, Producing its own kind, indeed, someday. A tree from its parentage bearing in kind, Just like the apple from which it sprung [Unlike orange or grapefruit having a rind] With peeling, stem, and seeds in a core, It cannot change its genus or its species Like all other apples it came from before.

Some wise apples roll far far away from that tree, and take on the personality of their grandmother rather than their father though, let us always remember those apples!

I guess I'm one of those apples, Caren. I'd like to think there is much more of grandma in me than daddy!

An apple is always an apple. Our genes are always our genes. Another clever poem, Milt.

Insightful and clever. Yes the apple can roll away and not be part of that tree. A person can be different in the environment they are raised in for the better. The analogy is a great realization you bring forth Milton. Very clever. Thank you so much for sharing my friend...

Thanks, Michael. I thought it made for an interesting metaphor.
