An Angel In the Service

AN ANGEL IN THE SERVICE A white hat starched to perfection, A uniform to match. For service to humanity, Their training complete at last. Dreams of love and admiration, From those in your special care. You can hardly wait to serve, You hurry to get there. Your smiles and cheery greetings, Can make a patient's day. For some are oh so lonely, For each of them you pray. As years go by and you learn the chore, Of caring for those who love no more. You question yourself and then ask why, You chose this open door. Sometimes you cry, And question why, this service you did choose. Were you just a dreamy teenage child, Do you feel that you will lose? Then a voice calls our, Or you hold a hand of someone in your care. In Service of our Heavenly God, You are His Angel there. RAYMOND V. MORGAN

Thank you Funom Makama. My sister was a nurse for 55 years many of them in a VA hospital. I wrote this for her. One day she let me walk her rounds and everyone knew her by name - I never forgot. A vet from WWII in a wheelchair, reached out and she took his hand and said Good Morning and called him by name. True dedication. May she rest in God's Love.
