American Dreams

(Verse 1) Well, I remember back in school, a song we'd all uphold, "America, America," we'd sing it, hearts so bold. Oh, beautiful for heroes proved in battles fought and won, Who more than self, their country loved, and mercy more than guns. (Chorus) America, America, may God thy gold refine, Till all success be nobleness, and every gain divined. And you know when I was in school, we used to sing it something like this, Listen here, let me take you back, with the spirit that lives within us. (Verse 2) Oh, beautiful for spacious skies, and amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties, above the fruited plain. But now, wait just a minute, let me tell you what I see, America, sweet America, God's grace upon thee, just as it should be. (Chorus) America, America, may God thy gold refine, Till all success be nobleness, and every gain divined. And you know when I was in school, we used to sing it something like this, Listen here, let me take you back, with the spirit that lives within us. (Bridge) I wish I had somebody to help me sing this tune, 'Cause together, we can raise the voices of the moon. America, America, God shed His grace on thee, America, I love you, America, you see. (Chorus) America, America, may God thy gold refine, Till all success be nobleness, and every gain divined. And you know when I was in school, we used to sing it something like this, Listen here, let me take you back, with the spirit that lives within us. (Verse 3) From sea to shining sea, He's crowned thy good, yes, He did, In brotherhood, He's shown the way, through the struggles and the strife. Oh Lord, oh Lord, I thank you Lord, for the land of the free, Shining sea to sea, it's where I'll always be. (Outro) America, America, with grace from above, He's made us a beacon, a light of love. And you know, we can still sing it, just like it was back then, From sea to shining sea, let's raise it again, amen.
