Amen

there were no tears at graduation
my heart burst with pride as the youngest boy
marched with his friends to finish high school
but up in the bleachers
his mother
could hardly wait for that diploma to hit his hand
DONE WITH PUBLIC SCHOOL
AMEN

*in memory of all the hours of homework
glue sticks
footnotes
research papers
illness
broken friendships
broken printers
new discoveries
PTA Meetings
reading groups
first grade teachers aid (me)
poster board
middle school (sucked for me more than it did for you)
peer pressure
school concerts
prom
(no, you can't go to the beach, I don't care who is going)
big smiles
braces
best friends
real teachers
school lunches
and,
missed busses
