Alter Ego

I know you too well
To believe ,that which is not.
My eyes sees the child vulnerable
Behind the face so palpable
The firm jaws fail to hide the fear
Exposed by the quivering lips
Your ego, made up
Tries hard to cover a gentle heart
Your insecurities and shortcomings
Crouch under an anger false
Your awkward little movements
Draws out the little lad
Your pretension so transparent
Peep through your eyes unguarded
Why try that which you cannot
For you are dear as you are
Be true to yourself
And watch the world love you
To advocate falsehood
Will cause you no good.
