Along Comes a Flood

I guess this is how mania feels.

It’s as if there are spikes on my heels.

Making me run, and then wander away.

And then I forget the medicine that kept the flood at bay.

It is as if my breath is electrified.

When I speak, I feel as if I cannot lie.

Along comes a flood of timelessness that never hurts.

And I forget that there are spurts-

Of blood that is used to travel to my brain.

That is now being lapped up by wolves as the blood exits my veins.

Along comes a flood of guards.

That lock up heroes and turn our liveliness to shards.
