Alone With My Friend

By myself, at the end of the dock My place to think and be alone Night is young, I wait for the stars The first one I see, I call my own The lake itself is almost asleep it's waters becoming a dark mirror Tiny little flutters of dragonfly wings is the only sound that I hear My dog's head softly on my lap She senses what is in my soul I love the feel of her gentle calm It makes my heart feel whole I close my eyes, I feel her warmth My closest friend at my side Loving me inspite of all my faults Never uncomfortable when I've cried The stars are now covering the sky a sequinned cape of black My private star shines like a beacon Reminding me it's time to head back We stand, I bend and hug her neck She softly licks my hand She knows I'm very much at peace Which is exactly what she planned

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
