Alone Tonight and Far Away (For Joy)
Alone tonight and far away
How many rivers need I cross to you
How many mountains before the break of day
How many sighs before the night is through, I'm missing you
memory long arms reaches out
O but only to the pass, the present is bare
Memory cannot grow joy while night filled with drought
Leave me shriveling in a dust bowl of dreams and despair
Imagination has no fruit
My tongue has not suckled like a breast
I cry and whimper, so lonely at the dry root
Where are you love, tonight, how far is happiness
Shall dream in flight find
Again the paradise left behind? Shall we
Meet some place where rivers and sea entwine
And on a delta embrace? Night is here and dream weighs on me
The wind your footsteps coming
And every distant sound of nature;s voice
Pale to your sweet humming, and I still longing
For your presence, see stars shed their beauty, for none rejoice
