Alone Among Many
I've traveled this long, winding road
Through life mostly alone.
Yet while the solitude has granted some peacefulness,
At times I wish I had someone to call my own.
The reality is that it's a self-imposed solitary confinement,
There's simply no one else to blame.
So this has caused me to enjoy my own company,
And to many others, that's just a shame.
Sometimes, I've been known to even talk to myself,
But if I didn't do that, who else would there be to listen?
As I stroll the streets, both near and far,
While humanity observes my condition.
So whether by myself, or amongst a crowd,
The path I follow will always come to an end.
Where this individual journey carries all the meaning,
And those who are attentive, might even learn, and then ascend.
