Alone

ALONE
by
JOHN M. ARRIBAS

Like the lone osprey searching the sea for a meal
Like the void in ones being that many a widower feel
Like the unending pounding by a relentless surf
Like the fading memories that no one can reverse

Like the sudden feeling that she’s in the next room
Like the anticipated joy that turns into gloom
Like the warm home that is now a empty house
Like the unanswered echo from a missing spouse

Like the autumn leaves shriveled by an early frost
Like those hand held moments now forever lost
Like the warm embrace that was deeply sown
Like the shadow continuing the journey alone
