Alone

darkness is surrounding me
this is where I shall always be

covered in a cape of black 
no one to watch my back

I cannot go into the light 
unless I wish to join the fight

there is a coward within me
for i have no bravery

I remain hidden from you 
I am one but once was two

he left me late within the night
name was drafted, left to fight

now I fend for myself
not great for my health

I have learned not to care
for the pain i could not bare

I dream of the day when he’ll come home
then i shall begin to roam

he shall come along with me
happy we shall always be

now that i have sung this song
the darkness has finally gone.
