Alone
Tonight I want to talk
About being alone....
About not feeling connected
And why.....
I've been loved
And I have loved....
But this is about
A deeper feeling...
Very hard to define.....
It's almost painful to describe.
Or admit....
How it takes control
And divides....
Ones emotions....
First comes the comfort
Of not having to hurt...
Just ignore what you feel....
It's a silence very sweet...
Second comes the knowing
You can leave at any time...
Just walk away...
It's a thrill like no other...
No excuses...no plans...
No good byes needed to say...
Not caring....
Or wondering why...
A perfect freedom
Shared by no one...
Last comes the lament...
For being so free
That no one will
See, how perfect
It was just to be me.
