Alone

Though I dwell in this crowd of humanity
I am alone
Though I stand in the midst of the multitude
I am stalked by solitude
Though I see you and hear you
And lay by your side
I feel not your presence
For I am without you
And when lonely desires swarm me
I see you, you light of love divine
I once thought I would find refuse in your shelter
But destiny played a trick on me
You knew me once
And I was happy
Now my heart hears only the echoes of your silence
As I attempt to flee this loneliness that pursues me
