Aloha Means Hello and Goodbye

as a lad
living in
Hawaii
i had

a tiny
turtle
bought
from not

even
a pet
store
but one

that had
more then
two and also
sold sushi on the side

but
with pride
i picked out
the perkiest so

it would
live longer
than the other
more then other

ones
had so
not needing
the whole

kit and
kaboodle
i took my new
friend home to his

or her
algae stained
remains of a desert
island now water filled

to the level
of the beginning
of the winding path that
would take turtle happiness

to its private
resort restoring
the kingdom even
though looking out my

window at
coconut trees
i had climbed as
my mind currently

placed
the plastic
flag of a brown
stemmed and green

leafed palm
tree in the hole
so that turtle island
wouldnt sink

god
rest
in
peace
