Allured By the Night

The night was icy but I didn’t care I walked the streets forsaken and alone As violent winds blew my vision went bare For my direction was no longer known With numb fingers I tried to wipe my eyes Took shelter under an awning with light An image appeared in feminine guise With piercing green eyes that soothed my blurred sight I asked her name and where she was from She continued to gaze, silent, and stout As I moved closer my heart had succumb Suddenly, releasing a shrieking shout Grew thin wings like a bat then flew away Night lust, a mere enemy, of the day.
