Allie and the Catcher's Mitt

If a body catch a body coming through the rye Prevent it falling off a cliff Or it will surely die If a body lose a body It could not deny If it knew it was not a body It would never cry

yeah this one's extra vague so I'll explain what I mean: First verse is the song that Holden (Catcher in the Rye) sings to his sister Phoebe, catch the kids before they fall off the cliff to phony adulthood. Allie was his brother who wrote poetry on his catcher's mitt and died before adulthood. The poem follows Holden's misery over losing his brother and then tells him that he has nothing to fear because his brother's always with him and so he's never really alone. This is how I see it anyway.

I love your title! I'm not sure what it means, (the poem), but I like it nonetheless... Best wishes, Keith
