Allie
The bruise upon her child's face
fills her heart with pain and shame.
Hers is not the hand that hit
but still she was the cause of it.
She chose to see her man because
she had forgotten what he once was.
Old memories had faded away
as well as her poor choices made.
She only wanted to remember
a "holiday" family time together.
Instead her child was in harms way
new painful memories made that day.
Scrapes and bruises can all be kissed
but the hurt inside is often missed.
She has hopes her child will forgive
but fears her child will not forget,
again, the child was not kept safe
and in her mother, misplaced faith.
