All We Need

I've never loved a man before I usually wasted my time on fools Who still could love another -- That, or they were tools. Pity how the cynicism Can always get in the way Of sweetening the love we have; I regret so many things I say. But beyond the cold exterior, There lies the deepest adoration That needs only your love in return To drive it from the brink of starvation And if, given prompt and chance, I can break bonds of hate and naivete, Perhaps I can look deeper, then And discover all you've given to me; And if then, the habits broken, The days will go with happy speed Unto the time that we can say Together; That's all we need.
