ALL THE WORLD?

All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players – As You Like It: Act II Sc VII. “All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players.” Thus spake Jaques in reflective mood, And that concept gave me food For thought. If the world was a stage, What would you call the theatre, The Globe? And then I went on to probe Other questions raised. If all the men and women were merely players, Where would you find a director? Who would be the audience And where would they sit If the whole world’s the stage? I’m sorry Will, I may be dense But that soliloquy is sans sense.

Bryn, congrats on your placement in my contest. Liked the way you used the quote and developed your poem to end with those two lines
