ALL I'VE EVER KNOWN
I never sleep. Or at least when I do, it is swiftly cut short. Most nights it comes rushing, sometimes, I feel it before it does.
Then with it's fast motion, makes me swing, and swing, and swing, till it's silent.
But we are used to it. That's all we've ever known.
I prefer daylight, cause then, I am slightly aware of these changes.
I love early mornings, when it's a bit quiet, when it leaves me be.
Then, I enjoy the stillness, appreciate it more, cause I know it's about to be rudely interrupted throughout the day.
But we are used to it. It's all we've ever known.
At least we don't live on the " other lands" where the coming and going is harsh.
I heard that there, it can get so cold that the water hugs me tight. They call it winter.
Other times, without warning, we fall to the ground and are trampled by "those people"
Other times it's too hot and it scorches us and we shrivel and die. I like it here. It's less drastic.
But we're used to it. It's all we've ever known.
I enjoy the rain too. The light water taps before it drenches me and makes me sway, sway, sway.
But I don't like it when it goes on for days, and it makes us fall. Not alone, but with our whole house.
My life is quickly cut short, and more of me are born.
But we're used to it. It's all we've
ever known.
